In 1582 the Julian Calender in European countries, Spain, Portugal, Poland, and parts of Italy turned the page of their calenders from October 4th to and the next sheet said, October 15th. This was due to the conversion to the Gregorian Calender. While it was not a popular conversion, eventually it became the standard around the world. If we had stayed on the Julian calender, the seasons would be messed up to the tune of 3 days every 4 centuries. By comparison, the Gregorian calender is off by about 1 day every 3300 years. By then, maybe they’ll have thought up a new calender. In honor of the missing days, we’ll list all the important birthdays that occurred on this date, wait… maybe I’ll list all the early sports results for these days? Ok, ok, there is nothing to list, but it is an interesting bit of trivia that means nothing to people 426 years later, but can you imagine how you’d feel if you had a newspapers subscription for those 10 days?  To read the whole story, check it out on Wiki!
