On October 10th, 1845, the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD was organized. Since then, the school has produced a vast majority of the officers in our Navy. However, the school has produced successful graduates in all walks of life. Today’s list honors some of the more well known graduates of “Annapolis”.
1) Jimmy Carter – Former President of the United States
2) Roger Staubach - NFL Great
3) David Robinson - NBA Great
4) John McCain III - Senator, Presidential Candidate
5) Robert Heinlein - Writer extraordinaire
6) H. Ross Perot - Businessman, candidate for President
7) Charlie Wilson - Senator, recently the subject of a Tom Hanks movie
Montel Williams - Entertainment
9) Alan Shepard - Astronaut, one of more than 50 from the school
10) John McMullen – one time owner of the NJ Devils and Houston Astro’s
Not a bad representation for any school! Also on this day, David Lee Roth was born and Spiro Agnew resigned, both were tempting targets of a list (although I wasn’t sure I could come up with 10 hits for Roth that were not part of Van Halen, and I wasn’t sure if could limit it to just 10 tax cheats).
